Fredericktown Schools is pleased to announce that we are now utilizing the the SaferOH tip line that will accept both calls and texts 24 hours a day for schools that register for the service. This tip line, in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Public Safety are launching allows students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety—whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student. Every tip can remain anonymous. School safety analysts may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain secret or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up.
Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When action is needed, the TAP Unit immediately forwards information to local school officials, local law enforcement agencies and others, if necessary. TAP Unit analysts always follow up quickly with the affected school and law enforcement agencies to make sure that the incident is investigated, action is taken and the outcome is tracked.
The assurance that their calls or texts cannot be traced and that serious, proper action will be taken to end the threat is helping to persuade young people to take a stand against school violence.
What is Safer Schools Ohio?
Safer Schools Ohio is a multi-agency effort created to assist schools in continuously improving the safety of our students. Paramount in this effort is ensuring each school has a strong emergency management plan.

By calling or texting the statewide anonymous hotline - 844-SAFEROH - you can report anything that is suspicious or endangering you, your friends or your school. Public safety officials offer this hotline at no cost to schools as a way for students to report potential suicides, school shootings, bullying or other problems anonymously.
Threat Assessment & Prevention (TAP) Unit
TAP Unit analysts trained in school and workplace violence threat assessment are available to answer questions, receive suspicious activity reporting and field tips regarding school and workplace violence. The following is a list of items worth reporting:
- Bullying incidents (perpetrators and victims)
- Withdrawn student behaviors
- Verbal or written threats observed toward students,faculty or school
- Weapon/suspicious devices on or near school grounds
- Gang related activities
- Unusual /suspicious behavior of students or associates
- TAP Unit analysts work closely with the Ohio Department of Education to alert schools of important information, and when needed, contact local law enforcement to prevent violence.
